Colors of Amber
Baltic amber jewelry comes in a large variety of colors. The stones selected for the designs come in natural hues that are determined by the components of the trees from which they originated as well as the transformations they went through when they were resting either underground or submerged in the Baltic Sea. In their resting places they went through various chemical and physical changes which dictated their current morphology.
Below are the known natural colors of amber:
Black - black amber is not truly black, it simply is a very rich saturated cognac which doesn't allow much light to come through and appears to be almost black. You can see an example in our customer gallery.Black Amber Ring

The green amber jewelry that is most commonly sold is created through a process that the jewelry makers keep very secret. We know that a paste is applied to the back of the gemstone then heated but the exact details of this application are a trade secret. Green Amber Cuff
