Amberif in Gdansk
Every year, thousands of amber aficionados descend upon Gdansk, Poland to feast their eyes on the largest collection of Baltic amber jewelry under one roof. Over four hundred jewelers and designers come together to show off their creations to the public at the International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones.
Amberif has been growing in size since it's first show 15 years ago. In the recent years over 9000 people from 40 different countries visit the Expo which attracts not only representatives from the industry such as retailers, but also scientists, museum and gallery representatives and the media.
The Fair is divided into three different areas:
New Gold Hall: gold and silver jewellery, diamonds, pearls, gemstones, goldsmiths’ works and designs and watches.
Amber Hall: silver and gold jewellery with amber, decorative objects and items of applied art made of amber, packaging.
Technical Pavilion: machines, technologies and tools for the jewellery industry.
In addition to the exhibits themselves Amberif offers seminars, design competitions and social events. Some of the items on the program from this past Expo ( March 08) included: -The Seminar on Baltic Amber -The Seminar on Diamonds -The Paleontological Gallery -The Amber Laboratory (run by scientists and experts) -The Amber Gala suggesting designs and trends for the coming year
Amberif is set in the beautiful city of Gdansk in northern Poland, right on the Baltic Sea. The city is Poland's principal seaport and was one of the main stops on the ancient amber trade route making it the perfect location for this event.
